The A. S. Aloe Company was founded in 1860 by Albert S. Aloe in St. Louis, Missouri. Its industry was manufacturing and distribution of surveying, optical, machinery and medical products and its headquarters remained in St. Louis, Missouri.
In 1959, the company was acquired by the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company. It dissolved as a corporate entity in 1962, but continued operations as a division. It was acquired in 1970 by Sherwood Medical Industries, Inc., a firm previously established by Brunswick in 1968.
