A. Schrader's Son, Inc. was founded in 1844 by August F. Schrader in Manhattan, New York. It's industry was air control products and tire valves and its headquarters were in New York City (1844-1966), Nashville, Tennessee (1966-1989), Monroe, North Carolina (1989-1996), Deerfield, Illinois (1996-2000) and Altavista, Virginia (2000-present).

It was acquired by the Scovill Manufacturing Company in 1929. In 1986, the company was acquired by Arvin Industries, Inc and in 1995 was sold to Kohlberg & Company. It merged with the Bridgeport-Piedmont Manufacturing Company in 1996. In 1998, the company was acquired by the Gates Rubber Company, a subsidiary of Tompkins plc. The company was sold to Madison Dearborn Partners LLC in 2012 and to Sensata Technologies Holding N.V. in 2014. It was acquired by its current parent, Pacific Industrial Company Ltd., in 2018.
