The Abenaque Machine Works was founded in 1893 by Frederick M. Gilbert and John A. Ostenburg in Westminster Station, Vermont. Its industry was engines and machinery and its factory remained in Westminster Station, Vermont. The company went bankrupt in 1915 and again in 1921, with the assets finally being sold in 1923. Afterwards, parts for Abenaque engines were offered through the Abenaque Engine Company of Marlborough, New Hampshire until at least 1927 (possibly until WW2).
