Abendroth

The Abendroth & Root Manufacturing Company was founded in 1867 (incorporated 1874) by John Abendroth and John B. Root in New York City, New York. Its industry was water heaters, boilers, and other equipment and its headquarters were in New York City, New York and later Newburgh, New York.

The company entered into the automobile business sometime before 1906 with its hand-built "Arco" car. In 1906, the company was acquired by Charles G. Emery who changed the name of the car to "Frontenac". From 1912 to 1915, the company produced 3-5-ton trucks under the "A & R" name. The company returned to its previous industry in 1913 after failing to interest the public with its expensive "luxury automobiles". It's unsure when the company dissolved, however it was still mentioned in the New York city directory in 1923.
