The Beech-Nut Packing Company was founded on February 10, 1891 by Raymond L. Lipe, John D. Zieley, Walter H. Pipe, David Zieley and Bartlett Arkell in Canajoharie, New York. Its industry is baby food and its headquarters were in Canajoharie, New York (1891-1982), Fort Washington, Pennsylvania (1982-1989), St. Louis, Missouri (1989-2007) and Florida, New York (2007-present). The company merged with Life Savers, Ltd. in 1956. In 1968, the company merged with E. R. Squibb & Sons, forming Squibb Beech-Nut, Inc.

In 1973, the baby food business of Squibb Beech-Nut was sold to investors led by Frank Nicholas who named the new company Beech-Nut Food Corporation. In 1979 the company was acquired by the Nestlé Company who later sold it to the Ralston Purina Company in 1989. In 1998, the company was acquired by the Milnot Holding Corporation, and was purchased by the Hero Group in 2005.
