
The Belden Manufacturing Company was founded on September 2, 1902 by Joseph C. Belden in Chicago, Illinois. Its industry is electronics and its headquarters were in Chicago, Illinois (1902-1980), Richmond, Indiana (1980-1994) and St. Louis, Missouri (1994-present). It was acquired by the Crouse-Hinds Company in 1980. Crouse-Hinds was acquired by Cooper Industries in 1981, and spun off Belden as an independent company in 1993. In 2004, the company merged with the Cable Design Technologies Corporation.
