The Brown Shoe Company was founded in 1878 by George W. Brown, Alvin L. Bryan and Jerome Desnoyers in St. Louis, Missouri. Its industry is footwear and its headquarters is in Clayton, Missouri. It merged with the Wohl Shoe Company in 1950, and it still around today.
It had a Canadian subsidiary called the Perth Shoe Company based in Perth, Ontario which it had acquired in 1958/1959.
