The Bryant Heater & Manufacturing Company was founded in 1904 by Charles L. Bryant in Cleveland, Ohio. Its industry is heating and cooling systems and its headquarters were in Cleveland, Ohio (1904-1955) and Indianapolis, Indiana (1955-present).
In 1934 the company was acquired by Dresser Industries, Inc. Bryant merged with the Payne Furnace & Supply Company and Day & Night Water Heater Company, also units of Dresser, in 1949, forming Affiliated Gas Equipment, Inc. This firm was purchased by the Carrier Engineering Corporation in 1955, who in turn was acquired by the United Technologies Corporation in 1979.
