The Canadian Fairbanks-Morse Company, Ltd. was founded on March 15, 1905 by Henry J. Fuller as a sales agent for Fairbanks, Morse & Company. The latter firm first branched out into Canada in 1876, establishing a warehouse in Montreal in 1898. Its industry was machinery (later a distributor) and its headquarters were in Montreal, Quebec.
In 1911, the company amalgamated with the Fairbanks-Morse Canadian Manufacturing Company, Ltd., another Canadian subsidiary that had been established in July 1905 with its head office in Toronto, Ontario. The company was acquired by the Aerojet-General Corporation in 1974 and by CAE Industries, Ltd. a year later. It was sold to Canrep, Inc. in 1984 and to Emco Corporation in 1988, who shut the firm down in early-1990.
