The Chemical Toilet Corporation was founded on March 24, 1919 by W. E. Jaquith, C. L. Carpenter and A. N. Ellis in Syracuse, New York. Its industry is fireplaces (originally septic tanks) and its headquarters were in Syracuse, New York (1919-1978) and Des Moines, Iowa (1978-1986). In 1981, the Heatilator division was sold to HON Industries, Inc. and renamed Heatilator, Inc. The remainder of Vega Industries shut down by 1986.
