Cluett, Peabody & Company, Inc. was founded in 1851 by Joseph Maullin and E. D. Blanchard in Troy, New York. Its industry was apparel and its headquarters were in Troy, New York (1851-1989) and Atlanta, Georgia (1989-1998).

It merged with Coon & Company in 1889, acquiring the "Arrow" trademark. The company was acquired by WestPoint Pepperell, Inc. in 1985 and in 1990 by Bidermann Industries. In 1998 it was acquired by Vestar Capital Partners. It dissolved in 2008. The remaining elements of the company operate today under Gold Toe Brands. The "Arrow" brand was acquired by the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation in 2004.
