The Consolidated Expanded Metal Companies was founded on February 9, 1909 by Harvey B. Chess, Jr., William C. Charlton and James Adams in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its industry was metal lath and its headquarters were in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1909-1930) and Wheeling, West Virginia (1930-1946). The company was acquired by the Wheeling Steel Company in 1925. The company was dissolved in 1946.
