
D. W. Onan & Sons, Inc. was founded in 1919 by David W. Onan in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its industry is generators and its headquarters have remained in Minneapolis (Fridley), Minnesota. It was acquired by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation in 1960. In 1979, Studebaker, along with Onan were acquired by the McGraw Edison Company. In 1986 it was acquired by the Cummins Engine Company, becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary in 1992.
