The Ethyl Corporation was founded in 1921 by Charles Kettering, the General Motors Company and Standard Oil Company of New Jersey in New York City, New York. Its industry is fuel additives and its headquarters is in Richmond, Virginia. In 1962, the Albemarle Paper Manufacturing Company acquired the company and changed its name to the Ethyl Corporation. In 2004, it became a subsidiary of the NewMarket Corporation.
