The Boston Varnish Company was founded on July 31, 1899 by James B. Lord in Boston, Massachusetts. Its industry was paint and varnishes and its headquarters remained in Boston, Massachusetts. It was acquired by the Nubrite Chemical Company, a subsidiary of the Sico Corporation in 1986. It was merged into the Bruning Paint Company in 1998.
