The Fowler-Manson-Sherman Cycle Manufacturing Company was formed in 1902 after William R. Manierre purchased the charters of the Fowler Cycle Works, Manson Cycle Company, and Sherman Cycle Company, and consolidated the three together. Initially the company followed in the steps of its predecessors, manufacturing bicycles, before later branching out into tubular steel furniture. At the end of its span, the company manufactured office furniture, post office equipment, seats for military troop carrier planes, patio sliding glass doors, and specialty items for the medical profession. Its main offices and plant were in Chicago, Illinois. In 1939 the company assumed occupancy of a new factory at St. Marys, Ohio. The main office remained in Chicago for some time before consolidating in St. Marys. That plant was sold to Bernard Blattner of Lima, Ohio in 1961, and Sherman-Manson moved to a new location in Monroe, North Carolina. On December 8th, 1993, its certificate of authority was revoked suggesting its dissolution.
