The Graver Corporation was founded in 1857 by William Graver in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its industry was containment tanks and its headquarters were in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1857-1883), Chicago, Illinois (1883-1886), Lima, Ohio (1886-1888) and East Chicago, Indiana (1888-1982).
In 1930 the company was acquired by the Phoenix Manufacturing Company and reorganized as the Graver Tank & Manufacturing Company. Both firms were acquired by the Union Tank Car Company in 1957. It was purchased by the Aerojet-General Corporation in 1971 and operated under its Envirogenics Company division. The plant shut down in late-1982.
