The Hamilton Powder Company was founded in 1862 to buy the assets of the Canada Powder Company. Its industry was gunpowder and blasting powder and its headquarters were in Hamilton, Ontario. It was acquired by Thomas C. Brainerd in 1878. In 1910, Hamilton and a group of other companies merged to create the Canadian Explosives Company.
