The Hookless Fastener Company was founded on October 29, 1894 by Whitcomb L. Judson, William D. McIlvaine and Thorne D. Earle in Chicago, Illinois. Its industry was zippers and its headquarters were in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The company was acquired by Textron Industries in 1968. Textron declined over the following years and Talon was taken over by Nucor Holdings in 1981. In 1996, the company was purchased by Tag-It Pacific who later changed their name to Talon International to reflect the acquisition.
