The Jackson Manufacturing Company was founded in 1876 (incorporated September 27, 1881) by Caleb H. Jackson in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Its industry was wheelbarrows and lawn rollers and its headquarters remained in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1981, the company was acquired by the True Temper Hardware Company and merged into the firm in 1987. The "Jackson" name and Harrisburg plant was acquired by the Ames Company in 1999, who in turn was acquired by the Griffon Corporation in 2010. Today, the brand is marketed as Jackson Professional Tools.
