The John Oster Manufacturing Company was founded in 1924 by John Oster Sr. in Racine, Wisconsin. Its industry is small appliances and its headquarters is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1960, it was acquired by the Sunbeam Corporation. In 1981, Sunbeam was acquired by Alleghany International, Inc. and made a division along with Oster. That company was renamed Sunbeam-Oster Company after a bankruptcy and reorganization in 1989. It is still associated with Sunbeam today and is parented by the Jarden Corporation.
