The Larkin & Scheffer Chemical Company was founded in 1872 by Eli H. Larkin and Henry W. Scheffer in St. Louis, Missouri. Its industry was acids and ammonia and its place of operations remained in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1890 the ammonia business of the firm was acquired by the National Ammonia Company. The company shut down operations in 1911.
