The Magnolia Petroleum Company was founded on April 24, 1911 by John H. Sealy in Galveston, Texas. Its industry was petroleum and its headquarters remained in Galveston, Texas. It was acquired by the Standard Oil Company of New York in 1925. In 1959, it merged with the Socony-Vacuum Oil Company.
