The Masonite Corporation was founded in 1925 by William H. Mason in Laurel, Mississippi. Its industry is doors and door hardware and its headquarters were in Laurel, Mississippi (1925-1935), Chicago, Illinois (1935-2004) and Tampa, Florida (2004-present). It was acquired by the United States Gypsum Company in 1984. It was sold to the International Paper Company in 1988 who later sold it to Premdor Inc. in 2000. Premdor changed its name to Masonite International Corporation in 2002.
