The Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Company was founded on April 24, 1902 by J. L. Record and Otis Briggs in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its industry was farming equipment and its headquarters remained in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It merged with the Moline Implement Company and Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company in 1929, forming the Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Company.
