
The Northern Electric Company, Ltd. was founded on December 7th, 1895 by Charles F. Sise, Sr., Robert Mackay, Hugh Paton, Joseph-Rosaire Thibaudeau, Robert Archer, Charles P. Sclater, and Lewis B. McFarlane in Montreal, Quebec. Its industry was telecommunications and its headquarters was in Mississauga, Ontario. It was originally 93% owned by the Bell Telephone Company of Canada. In 1914, Northern Electric and the Imperial Wire & Cable Company merged. Bell Canada spun off Nortel in 2000. It went bankrupt in 2009.
