NuTone, Inc. was founded in 1936 by J. Ralph Corbett in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its industry is doorbells, ventilation systems and range hoods and its headquarters have remained in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1967, the company was sold to the Scovill Manufacturing Company, which was acquired by First City Industries in 1985. It was sold to Valor PLC in 1987, and to Williams PLC in 1991. In 1998, NuTone was acquired by Nortek, Inc.
