In 1924, Penn-American merged with its three marketing companies: Pennzoil Company (California), Pennzoil Company (Pennsylvania), and the Pennzoil Company (New York) to form the Pennzoil Company. A year later, 51% of the firm was acquired by the South Penn Oil Company (gained full control in 1955).
