The Pond's Extract Company was founded in 1849 by Theron T. Pond, Alexander Hart and Edmund Munson in Utica, New York. Its industry was cosmetics and personal care and its headquarters were in Utica, New York (1849-1872) and New York City, New York (1872-1955). In 1955, the firm merged with the Chesebrough Manufacturing Company, forming Chesebrough-Pond's, Inc. This firm was acquired by Unilever in 1987, who continues to market "Pond's" products internationally.
