
The Rutland Fire Clay Company was founded in April 1883 by Rufus L. and Cleon A. Perkins in Rutland, Vermont. Its industry is stove and chimney products and its headquarters were in Rutland, Vermont (1883-2011) and Chapel Hill, North Carolina (2011-present). The company filed for bankruptcy in 1999 due to lawsuits over asbestos-caused health claims, but was reorganized a year later.
