The Simoniz Company was founded in 1910 by George Simons and Elmer Rich in Chicago, Illinois. Its industry is automobile cleaning products and its headquarters were in Chicago, Illinois (1910-1997) and Bolton, Connecticut (1997-present). It was acquired by Molton International in 1965 and in 1976, it was acquired by the Union Carbide & Carbon Corporation. Ten years later the "Simoniz" brand was sold to the newly-formed First Brands Corporation. In 1997 it was sold to Syndet Products. In 1998, a licensing agreement was made with the Loctite Corporation to manufacture and distribute Simoniz products.
