The Starr Piano Company was founded in 1872 by George L. Trayser in Richmond, Indiana. Its industry was pianos and its headquarters remained in Richmond, Indiana. In 1877, the company merged with the Valley Gem Piano Company. It was acquired by the J. Solotkin Company in 1952.
