
The Trailer Coach Manufacturers Association was founded in August of 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. It held 41 trailer companies as of 1948. Its headquarters moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1938, then to Chantilly, Virginia in 1972, and finally in Washington, D. C. in 1974. The association, with other associations, merged in 1975 into the Manufactured Housing Institute.
