The Union Carbide & Carbon Corporation was founded on November 1, 1917 by a merger between the Union Carbide Company, National Carbon Company, Electro Metallurgic Company, Prest-O-Lite Company and Linde Air Products Company in New York City, New York. Its industry is chemicals and its headquarters were in New York City, New York (1917-1983), Danbury, Connecticut (1983-2001) and Houston, Texas (2001-present). It was acquired by the Dow Chemical Company in 2001.
