The Vicks Corporation was founded in 1905 by Lunsford Richardson in Greensboro, North Carolina. Its industry is medicine and its headquarters is in Cincinnati, Ohio. It had been located in New York City, New York and Wilton, Connecticut in its past. It merged with the William S. Merrell Chemical Company in 1938. In 1980, the Merrell division was sold to the Dow Chemical Company. In 1985, Vicks was acquired by its current parent, the Procter & Gamble Company who owns it as a brand called "Vicks".
