The Wellington Sears Company was founded in 1845 by Nehemiah Boynton in Boston, Massachusetts. Its industry was originally cotton duck and cordage, later transitioning into industrial and household fabrics and upholstery, and its headquarters were in Boston, Massachusetts (1845-1931), New York City, New York (1931-?) and Valley, Alabama (?-1995).
In 1945 the company was acquired by the West Point Manufacturing Company, a firm it had previously been a selling agent for. It was purchased by Jupiter National, Inc. in 1992, which was absorbed by Johnston Industries, Inc. in 1995.
