The Western Cartridge Company was founded in 1898 by Franklin W. Olin and his two sons John M. and Spencer T. in East Alton, Illinois. Its industry is weapons and its headquarters has remained in East Alton, Illinois. In 1944, companies owned by the Olin family were organized under a new parent, Olin Industries.
