The Western Clock Company was founded on December 23, 1885 by Charles Stahlberg in Peru, Illinois. Its industry was clocks and its headquarters remained in Peru, Illinois. In 1930, it merged with the Seth Thomas Clock Company, forming the General Time Instruments Corporation as a holding company. In 2001, General Time filed for bankruptcy and the "Westclox" and "Big Ben" trademarks were sold to Salton, Inc. In 2007 they were sold to NYL Holdings, LLC.
