The Wood Mosaic Company, Inc. was founded in 1883 by Charles E. Rider in Rochester, New York. Its industry was wooden mosaic flooring and its headquarters were in Rochester, New York (1883-1909), New Albany, Indiana (1909-1922) and Louisville, Kentucky (1922-1985). In 1969, the company became a division of the Olin Corporation under its Olinkraft, Inc. subsidiary. In 1972, the company was split into two entities: one retaining the Wood Mosaic name and the other called Olinkraft Building Components Division. Wood Mosaic was sold to Katz Werke AG in 1980, and closed its doors in 1985.
